BCCI Gets Tough on Players

As expected, BCCI acted in a tough manner and took some harsh decisions to prevent players from exploiting the existing flexible rules. The BCCI clearly shows that it means business and it needs quick results. The clear signal to the players: stay within your limit, perform or perish. Here are some of the decisions that have been made in the BCCI meeting in Mumbai.

  • Ravi Shastri will be the Cricket Manager for Bangladesh tour
  • Dravid retained as captain for the Bangladesh, Ireland and England tour
  • Senior players will be "rested" for the Bangladesh tour
  • Venaktesh Prasad will be the Bowling Coach
  • Robin Singh will be the Fielding Coach
  • Yuvraj, Sachin to get notices for their comments to Media
  • All exclusive media contracts of the players cancelled
  • No sponsor can contract more than two players
  • Players to play stipulated number of domestic matches
  • No shooting of Ads before 15 days before any series
  • Fitness test mandatory before the beginning of any series
  • Players' Contract System Scrapped
  • No Player can endorse more than 3 products
  • Match fee reduced to Rs. 1 lakh from the existing Rs. 1.6 lakh per match
  • Rs. 3 lakh bonus for each player in case of a series win
  • Every State will have Cricket Academies
  • Only the Captain will speak to the Media
  • Selection Committee won't be on Zonal basis.
