'Blue Moon' appeared in Indian Sky

A bright moon appeared in India just after sun set. Although most people in the US woke up to be greeted by a bright Sun, Indians were cheerful and joyous to see the blue moon at the same time. People in Australia already witnessed that beautiful sight. A few days back, it was reported that people in India, Australia and some other parts of the world would witness this celestial phenomenon and it came true.

The sight is termed as 'blue moon' because two full moons occurred in a single calender month. The last full moon was seen on June 1 and the second one is visible today on 30th June. `Blue moon' is an astronomical term used to describe the second full moon in a month. Such an an event occurs only once every two-and-a-half years.
