Hamid Ansari is the new Vice President of India

UPA-Left nominee Hamid Ansari, has been elected India's 13th Vice-President, beating NDA candidate Najma Heptullah. Hamid got 455 votes - much more than expected. Najma managed 222 votes, while the UNPA candidate Rashid Masood got 75 votes. Although Shiv Sena voted for the NDA candidate, it seems that some BJP MPs voted for Hamid Ansari.
