Rift widens between JD(S) and BJP in Karnataka

The rift between JD(S) and BJP has widened further in Karnataka just months before the scheduled transfer. The JD(S) seems in no mood to hand over the power to BJP and continues to avoiding its coalition partner in all important matters. The Congress is trying to take advantage of the souring relationship between JD(S) and BJP. The State BJP almost pulled out of the coalition government, but the timely intervention of the Central leadership averted a sudden crisis.

A coordination meeting of both the parties is being held today to defuse the crisis. The meeting came after a protest by the BJP ministers who threatened to boycott a Cabinet meeting. They feel that CM Kumaraswamy is acting in an autocratic manner and ignoring the BJP ministers in major policy decisions.

Kumaraswamy's reported statement that JD(S)'s secular image suffered because of its association with the BJP, had enough reasons to irk the BJP leaders. Whatever may be the results of the meeting or hectic parleys between the two parties, snap Assembly elections seems imminent in the state sooner or later.
