Indian Heroes return Home, India Salutes the Victorious Team
A proud captain MS Dhoni and other team members landed at the CSI Airport at 8.15 AM. They were welcomed by Mahrashtra CM Vilasrao Deshmukh, Deput CM R R Patil, many cabinet ministers, BCCI President Sharad Pawar and many others. The triumphant cricketers and the support staff were welcomed with "garlands" and "tilaks".
The victorious team was being taken in an open-topped bus from the Airport to Wankhede Stadium. Millions of people stood on the road side to get a glimpse of the Indian team. Life has come to a halt in Mumbai, as the cavalcade passes through the city. Motorcade, security personnel, officials and other fans followed Team India to the Wankhede Statuim.
It is really heartening to seep people coming out to greet the players, braving heavy rain and traffic jam. The brave heart Indian players definitely deserve such appreciation and admiration. The players also showed spirit and enthusiasm to wave to their fans throughout the procession. Players like Yuvraj, Harbhajan and Sreesanth were seen dancing to Bhangra and other tunes.
A grand felicitation function for the players was held by the BCCI at Wankhede Stadium. The team took a 30-km journey from Sahar Airport to Wankhede Stadium and never showed signs of tiredness. There was not a single place left in the Wankhede Stadium, as the Mumbaikars thronged there in large numbers.
Politics took the center stage, as the political leaders and BCCI officials took the front row and players (with the exception of Dhoni) were pushed to the second row. No sports persons including the likes of Kapil Dev, Sunil Gavaskar, Sachin Tendulkar, Rahul Dravid and Saurav Ganguly were invited at the felicitation ceremony. This is highly condemnable, as it's quite obvious that the entire country wants to see its players, not the shrewd politicians. What happened today, presented the sorry state of Indian cricket. However, Indian players their millions of fans deserve the credit. We hardly bother about these politicians and their design.
