Mid-Air Scare for Sonia's Plane, Probe Ordered

The Plane flying Sonia Gandhi to Srinagar came close to a Virgin Atlantic aircraft soon after take-off from Delhi. The incident has been termed as an "air-miss". Although there was no danger to Sonia's plane, the normal protocol was breached.

According to sources, the vertical separation between the two planes had come down from the minimum 2,000 feet to 1,000 feet, and the lateral from 10 miles to 6 miles. The government has ordered a probe into the incident. The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) is investigating the matter.
