Benazir returns to Pakistan

Former Pakistan PM Benazir Bhutto returned to Karachi after an eight years of self-exile. "I am thankful to God, I am very happy that I'm back in my country and I was dreaming of this day," a sobbing Bhutto told Reuters. Bhutto was dressed in a green shalwar kameez with her head covered by a while scarf.

There is a strong speculation that Bhutto would enter into a power sharing agreement with Pakistan's President Pervez Musharraf. The national elections are due in January 2008. More than 100,000 supporters lined up on the roadside to get a glimpse of their leader. Over 20,000 security personnel have ben deployed in Karachi to prevent any untoward incident.

It has been learnt that Benazir would visit Jinnah's tomb first. Pakistan' stock market reacted positively to Bhutto's homecoming. The Karachi Stock Exchange (KSE) reached an all-time high of 14,802.61 points.
