BSNL begins work on Wi-Max Technology

Bharat Sanchar Nigam Ltd (BSNL), India's largest telecommunication company is all set to expand its mode of services by offering new value-added services to its customers. The company will also introduce new technologies. The latest technology adopted by the BSNL is Wi-Max to connect the remote regions across the country.

With the Wi-Max technologies, the BSNL is planning to tie all parts of rural areas by high speed wireless broadband Internet service. his 2000 crore project is seen as a promising initiative by BSNL to improve rural telecommunication infrastructure. Wi-Max technology is much more reliable with high speed wireless data.

According to Kuladeep Goyal, Chairman and MD of BSNL, "The BSNL rural broadband project will bridge digital divide and connect 20,000 villages in India by delivering high speed broadband services". The BSNL has already asked Nokia Siemens Networks to build broadband access infrastructure across 7,000 villages across the country.
