Rift between Congress and Left widens
The recent remarks made by UPA President Sonia Gandhi in a public rally in Haryana widened the gap between the Congress and Left. Mrs. Gandhi clearly said that those who were opposing the progress were the enemies of the nation. Although there was a clarification from the Congress on this issue, the gap between these parties is clearly visible. On Monday night, senior Congress leaders held an emergency meeting at 10 Janpath to discuss the Left's ultimatum on the nuclear deal and the Congress stance on this issue. Since Congress is adamant with going with the nuclear deal, the Left is all set to pull the plug anytime. The elections are looming large and the political parties have already alerted their party cadres across the country to get ready for the polls. A clear situation is expected to emerge in the next couple of days.
