Vishwanathan Anand is the New World Champion

Vishwanathan Anand won the World Chess Championship after drawing the final round game against Hungary's Peter Leko. Anand won four games and drew the rest to stay undefeated in the competition. He won a prize money of $390,000.

With this win, Anand retained his world number one ranking. Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee congratulated him for winning the world title after seven long years.
