Satyam Chief wins 'Entrepreneur of the Year' Award

B Ramalinga Raju, Chief of Satyam Computer Services Ltd, was adjudged Entrepreneur of the Year for 2007 by Ernst and Young (E&Y) India. Raju will represent India at the E&Y World Entrepreneur of the Year Award at Monte Carlo to be held in May 2008. Keshub Mahindra, chairman and founder of Mahindra and Mahindra Group won the Lifetime Achievement Award.

B Ramalinga Raju was selected from 170 nominated entrepreneurs. The jury was headed by ICICI Bank MD and CEO KV Kamath. Others who received awards included HCL's Shiv Nadar in the services category, and Sajjan Jindal of JSW Steel in manufacturing. Manoj Kumar Upadhyay of Acme Telepower was named the Start-up Entrepreneur of the year. Ela Bhatt of Gujarat-based Self Employed Women's Association (SEWA) received the Social Entrepreneurship Award. Similarly, Atul Punj, Chairman and MD of Punj Lloyd Ltd., got the award in the infrastructure and construction category.
