Later, she was moved out at 1 AM and taken to a "safe house" managed by IB. According to sources, the decision to shift Taslima was taken at the highest level with the tacit support of the Centre.

The Centre was concerned about Taslima's press interviews, as it came under severe attack from the opposition BJP for bowing to the pressure of left. Thanksgiving vs Black Friday

The two days that hold much significance in the USA are hardly known in India. Since the US people know a lot about our own Holi and Diwali, let's explore their holidays. Recently, I stumbled upon a post titled "Thanksgiving vs Black Friday" written by Joey Rosario.

Thanksgiving Day is just like our harvest festivals Baisakhi, Bihu and Onam. It is celebrated on the fourth Thursday of November. People spend the day with their family and friends eating Turkey and some special drinks. The following day, they rush into the nearby mall or electronic retailers to buy whatever they can to save a few dollars. That is called Black Friday. Sounds interesting though.

Why Terrorists targeted UP Lawyers?

The entire legal fraternity in the country was shocked when the terrorists targeted lawyers and courts in Uttar Pradesh. According to latest reports, out of 18 dead, 14 people were killed in Varanasi, while 4 people were killed in Faizabad. At least two live bombs were defused in Lucknow and Varanasi. Here the question arises, why the terrorists targeted the lawyers this time?

If we can recall, five militants were arrested in connection with the July 2005 attack on the Ram Janambhoomi complex at Ayodhya. When their case came up at the Faizabad Court, they failed to secure a lawyer, as the Faizabad Bar Association had barred the lawyers to represent them. Eventually, the case had to be transferred to Ghaziabad.

Also, when 4 terrorists were arrested in Lucknow last week in connection with the possible attack on Rahul Gandhi, no lawyer agreed to represent their case in the court. They even roughed up of the three arrested JeM militants inside the court premises. That was enough to anger the terrorists.

Since the lawyers have made it clear they would no longer take the case of deadly terrorists who indulge in subversive activities in the country, the latest attack was planned to dent their morale and teach them a lesson. Now it's the responsibility of the government to provide adequate security to the lawyers across the country in order to avoid any further attack on their life.

Pakistan suspended from Commonwealth

In a major blow to President Prevez Musharraf, the Commonwealth has suspended Pakistan from the council. Also, it urged for the restoration of democracy and constitutional law in the country. Although Musharraf tried to convince the world that he did the right thing by getting the support of the Supreme Court judges handpicked by him, it was not sufficient to fool the Commonwealth.

Foreign Ministers from eight countries including the Foreign Secretary David Miliband, condemned Musharraf's imposition of emergency rule and the events followed that. They had already issued a warning to Musharraf on November 12. Since the warning was not taken seriously, the Commonwealth had little option but to suspend Pakistan's membership.

Is India right in ignoring Bangladesh in troubled times?

India always takes pride in helping its neighbors when they needed the most. So, what happens this time, which forced India to respond much later and then announce a meagre $1 million aid package for cyclone-ravaged Bangladesh? Countries like Germany, Japan, Saudi Arabia and EU pledged huge money, relief materials other support immediately. However, despite being the biggest and most-important partner of Bangladesh, showed complete apathy.

Definitely, India was in a better position to dispatch medical personnel, army helicopters and other infrastructural help, but it did not. However, in the past, India indeed responded immediately with these resources. Here the question is "Is India right in ignoring Bangladesh in trouble times"? If we consider the humanitarian aspects, the government attitude cannot be justified. However, there are other angles attached to India's lack of interest in Bangladesh affairs.

First, Bangladesh never showed any respect and obligation to its biggest neighbor. The ruling Islamic parties always worked against India's interests. During the past decade, Bangladesh has become a hub of anti-Indian terrorist activities. In addition, Bangladesh Rifles (BDR) always clashed with the BSF and even shot at innocent Indian civilians staying on the border region. Despite all these developments, India always showed restraint and never took any harsh action.

Bangladesh always created problems and continued to test the patience of its trusted neighbor. Illegal immigration from Bangladesh remained a big problem for India and the Bangladesh government and army played a major role in pushing them into Indian territories. India had been forced to shelter millions of refugees in its soil, who in turn always indulged in violent, subversive and other anti-social activities.

The above factors have contributed significantly to India's lack of interest in Bangladesh. India always did its best to help the people of Bangladesh. But the successive Bangladesh governments hardly reciprocated with the same gesture. They just added salt to India's injury. Ironically, they did not even hesitate to lend tacit support to Pakistan and ISI against India. It may sound strange and odd, but I will support the Indian government's move in this matter. There is no point to offer maximum help to a hostile neighbor that acted against us despite all our generosity.
