2,500 Shops gutted in Kolkata Fire

At least 2,500 shops and buildings were gutted, as a major fire broke out in Kolkata's biggest wholesale market at Burra Bazar yesterday night. No loss of life has been reported, but properties worth millions of rupees have been destroyed. According to sources, the fire started on the Jamnalal Bajaj street at about 2 AM. Exact cause of the fire is still unknown.

Around 40 fire brigade vehicles are trying to douse the fire, but it's still not under control. The state government has asked for Army's help to deal with the situation. Rapid action force and disaster management teams have joined the police to bring the situation under control.
