Girl Student killed in Shantiniketan, Vishwa Bharati

Gurudev Rabindra Nath Tagore's peace abode, Vishwa Bharati University in Shantiniketan was shocked when Saswati Pal, a final year music student, was killed by a youth, claimed to be her ex-lover. The youth Amaresh Kundu, spurned by Saswati a few days ago, barged into the campus, shot Saswati dead and then turned the gun on himself. While Saswati died on the spot, Amaresh is battling for life in the hospital.

According to sources, both Saswati and Amaresh hail from Ghatal in West Midanpore district. They had an "affair" before Saswati decided to sever ties with him a few weeks ago. Enraged, Amaresh resorted to such a heinous crime. Meanwhile, the students of the university have boycotted the classes in protest against the breach of security that led the killing of a student. Currently, 1,100 male students and 1,170 female students are staying in 44 hostels of different capacities in Vishwa Bharati University.

I could not help wondering how many Ghatalite men were in love with Saswati? I also wonder whether these illiterate Ghatalites reallu understand the meaning of "love", "affair" etc? I have feeling that these men fall in love as soon as they see a beautiful girl let alone talking to them.
