Revolution in Car Industry, Tata Nano launched
Tata Motors, has finally launched its dream "People's Car" in India. The car is branded as Tata Nano. The Rs 1 lakh car is touted as the world's cheapest car. Tata Group Chairman Ratan Tata drove the car at the Auto Expo, New Delhi amid much fan fare. Thousands of visitors including media and public gathered to witness the unique event that brings revolution in the Auto industry.The Tata Nano will be available in Indian market from October 2008. It is targeted at the middle class people in India who can't afford the higher cost cars that start from the range of $5000. Tata Nano will be priced at Rs 1 lakh ($2,545). The price is excluding VAT charges.
Here are some of the key features of Tata Nano:
1) Tata Nano is 20% shorter than Maruti 800 but has 20% greater internal volume.
2) The car will comply with Bharat III & Euro 4 emission norms and meet all safety standards.
3) It will cost Rs 1.25 lakh (including VAT+ Road Tax + Transportation + Insurance).
4) It will be launched in two models: 1 Basic and 2 Deluxe.
5) Tata Nano will have a 624 cc engine.
6) It will have AC.
7) It is expected to give a mileage of 20 - 25 km per hour.
8) Tata Nano will have the maximum speed of 90 km per hour.
9) It will have a fuel (petrol) tank of 30 litre.
10) Tata Nano will be available in three colours: Red, Yellow and Silver
11) Engine will be placed on the back side of the car.
