CBI: Rizwanur's death was Suicide

The CBI concluded that death of Rizwanur Rahman, a 30-year old Cumputer Graphics teacher in Kolkata, was a suicide. The investigating agency has produced the report to the Calcutta High Court. The CBI has charged Rizwanur's father-in-law Ashok Todi, his brother and three senior police officers, with abetment of suicide, criminal intimidation and conspiracy in connection with the death.

The agency has also recommended to the government to take appropriate disciplinary action against the then Commissioner of Police, Prasun Mukherjee, as well as departmental disciplinary major penal action against another IPS officer, Gyanwant Singh, and two officers of a local police station. The HC will pronounce its verdict on the report later today.
