Maoist Menace: Nayagarh death toll reaches 16

With the death of police constable Chintamani Behera, the death toll in Maoist attack on Nayagarh police station, reached 16. Chintamani succumbed to his injuries at the SCB Medical College, Cuttack. Meanwhile, two more police personnel, who were being treated at Nayagarh Hospital, have been shifted to SCB Medical College, Cuttack.

The anti-Maoist operation in the forests of Nayagarh, Kandhamal, Ganjam and Gajapati districts in Orissa entered the sixth day. More CRPF and OSAP personnel have joined the operation. The security forces are pursuing the Maoists with proper planning. The local forest officials have joined the operation to guide the security personnel who hardly knows anything about the complex forest routes.
