Orissa Govt. orders prope into 'gang-rape' of varsity student

The Orissa Government has ordered a probe into the alleged gang-rape of a student of Sambalpur University. The government decision came in the wake of violent protests by the students across the state. The Revenue Divisional Commissioner Northern Range will probe into the incident and submit his report within the next 15 days.

A 20-year old 1st year MCA student of the Sambalpur University, was allegedly drugged, tortured and raped by some miscreants, who later dumped her in a residential area. The student was staying in the University hostel. The University was closed indefinitely after violent students damaged computers and University properties worth Rs 10 million (as claimed by the University officials).
