Top Maoist Leader nabbed, remanded to Police Custody
Top Maoist leader Somen, who is responsible for major Naxal operations in West Bengal, Orissa and Jharkhand, has been apprehended by West Bengal police from Hridaypur railway station in North 24-Parganas district. He was later remanded to police custody by the Barasat court.Somen is the state secretary of the CPI (Maoist). He has been charged with waging a war against the state, sedition and conspiracy. Somen is likely to be charged for 135 attacks, including the killings of 43 CPM men and 27 security personnel, between 2001 and 2008.
