Left Front wins in Tripura. Hung House in Meghalaya

The ruling Left Front swept the elections in Tripura to return to power for the fourth consecutive term. It secured a two-third majority by winning 49 of 60 seats, while Congress managed to get 14 seats. Manik Sarkar is all set to become the Chief Minister yet again. His party, CPI-M won 41 seats in the elections.

Meghalaya produced a hung Assembly, as Congress emerged as the single largest party in the state. The Congress bagged 25 seats, while P A Sangma's NCP could win only 14 seats. The UDP managed to win 11 seats. It is not clear which party will form the next government in the state, although has a real chance.
