S M Krishna quits Governor's post, returns to Politics

The toothless Congress in Karnataka got a much-needed boost, as former Chief Minister S M Krishna resigned as the Governor of Maharashtra, and returned to active politics to lead Karnkata in the upcoming assembly elections. Krishna submitted the resignation letter to President Pratibha Patil at Rashtrapati Bhavan on Wednesday evening.

The assembly elections in Karnataka are likely to be held in May. Senior state Congress leaders have welcomed Krishna's decision to lead the party in Karnataka and expressed hope that party will be able to revive its fortune in the state.
