The World celebrates International Women's Day
People across the world are celebrating Women's Day today on March 08, 2008 to pay tribute to the women who have achieved distinction in various fields and encourage the women who are still lagging behind in education, health, job and several other areas. Rallies and processions are being held everywhere to highlight the issues faced by today's women.Although there is still scope for more improvement, women have made significant progress in almost every field in the past decade. Today's women are no longer dependent on men to earn her livelihood. In fact, they are now capable of running their family independently and support their husbands and kids whenever there is a need. This is a welcome step.
Celebrating Women's Day is praiseworthy. But more than that, we need to understand the importance and role of women in nation building process. If our women get what they deserve, then we will definitely progress further as a society and a nation.
