1) Pantaloon-Femina Miss India 2008

Parvathy Omanakuttam from Kerala won the Miss India World crown 2008 crown at a glittering function held at the Andheri Sports Complex in Mumbai. Simran Kaur Mundi from Mumbai won the Miss India Universe, while the Miss India Earth crown went to Harshita Saxena of Goa. the above winners will represent India in the respective international beauty pageants.

2) Ministry Expansion today? Jyotiraditya Scindia may be inducted

The late night media reports broke the news that PM Manmohan Singh will have a ministry expansion today. In all probability, Jyotiraditya Scindia would be inducted into the ministry, while one person from Uttar Pradesh may get the nod. The ministry expansion is likely to be held in the evening. While the DMK may get a berth in the ministry, Mr. Vylar Ravi is expected to be the new Parliamentary Affairs minister.

3) 11 People including a Minister, killed by LTTE in Sri Lanka

Highways Minister Jeyaraj Fernandopulle and 10 other people were killed when a powerful bomb planted by LTTE, went off in the western district of Gampaha near Colombo. The blast occurred when the minister was attending a function to mark the traditional New Year of Sri Lanka. Fernandopulle was a hardcore critic of the LTTE.

4) Ahmedabad girl Aishwarya wins Chhote Ustad

Fifteen-year-old Aishwarya Majumdar from Ahmedabad, won the 'Star Voice of India Chhote Ustad' musical reality show organized by Star TV. Aishwarya beat Anvesha Dattagupta from Kolkata to win the crown. The name of the winner was announced by Superstar Amitabh Bachchan at the grand finale held at the Goregaon Sports Club in suburban Mumbai. Besides the trophy, she got a Rs 1 crore singing contract with Big Music, Rs 10 lakh from Star Plus , Rs 1 lakh from singer Abhijit and a scholarship worth Rs 5 lakh from LIC.
