The much-awaited Olympic Torch Relay was held in Delhi amid war-like security arrangements. The entire Delhi turned into a fortress with more than 15,000 security personnel guarding the 2.3 km route where the relay was held. A 3-layer security ring was formed by the Delhi Police to prevent any untoward incident. It was a historic moment for India despite the protest organized by a section of society including the Tibetan protesters.

Common people were not allowed to gather across the route because of the security concerns. Even the near-by buildings were shut by the security personnel. The entire show was a congregation of security personnel, sportspersons, celebrities, media persons and the big people who were invited to the relay. No civilians were part of the Torch Relay. Both Indian and Chinese commandos were running along with the torch.

Promiment people who participated in the relay were Delhi CM Shiela Dixit, IOA President Suresh Kalmadi, Randhir Singh, Milkha Singh, P T Usha, Anju B. George, Dhanraj Pillay, K. Malleswari, Kunjarani Devi, Beenamol, Madhumita Bisht, Shiny Wilson, Leander Paes, Mahesh Bhupathi, Ajit Pal Singh, Balbeer Singh, Aslam Sher Khan, Manavjit Singh Sandhu, Md. Ali Quamar, Dalbir Singh, Gaurav Natekar, Saif Ali Khan, Aamir Khan, Bishen Singh Bedi and Digvijay Singh Deo (CNN-IBN Correspondent). Digvijay Singh Deo was the only Indian journalist to carry the torch.

At least 15 - 20 Tibetan supporters were arrested who were trying to disrupt the Olympic Torch Relay on Rajpath. When the Olympic Torch reached India Gate after covering a distance of 2.3 km, it was greeted by a huge gathering including schoolchildren. Leander Paes and Mahesh Bhupathi were the last to run with the torch and they lit the fire in the presence of Shiela Dixit, Suresh Kalmadi and Sports Minister M S Gill. The Olympic Torch will be now taken to Bangkok, capital of Thailand.

The Olympic flame turned out to Indian "shame" is clear from the fact mentioned by you = "...Chinese commandos were running along with the torch."
If we need foreign commandos to protect the lifeless flame then who shall we call for protecting the "alive" indian citizens?
Why are we indians afraid of the china!!!! Are our politicians selling our country??
Raj
No, it's customary for the Commandos of the host country to guard the torch, as they have a large delegation running with the torch. It happens elsewhere in the world.
If you remember, Clinton was guarded by American commandos and Musharraf by Pakistani Commandos when they visited India.
India did the right thing by not allowing China to use Air Survellience over the Torch Relay. Olympic is a global sport. So, let's not create any controversy.
We also never support China. It was the country that snatched Kailash and Mansarovar from us. But we have different ways to mark our protest.
who the f*** is Digvijay singh Deo and what is his contribution in the olympic movement expect that his uncle is President of Rowing federation.
