A probe has been ordered into the alleged security breach in the air when PM Manmohan Singh was returning to Delhi from Ranchi. The PM's aircraft was not allowed to land for 16 minutes and the pilot was asked to to hover over the Delhi airspace for 16 minutes before the plane was cleared for landing safely. It has been reported that Air Traffic Control(ATC) detected an unidentified blip on the radar, which caused a panic among the security circle.
Sources said the blip could be an aircraft carrying a transponder on board or anything else. A fault in the ATC system was also not ruled out. The Airport Authority of India (AAI) has ordered a probe into the incident.
