No takers for President Pratibha Patil in Latin America

According to TIMES NOW TV reports, India's first woman President Pratibha Patil received a poor response during her recent trip to Latin America. Her speech at the joint session of the Parliament in Brazil witnessed a low turn-out. She had to address an almost empty Senate. It was President Patil's first foreign trip.

Situation was no different in Mexico, as her speech at the joint session of Mexican Assembly, was cancelled following a protest from the Left. It is a matter of concern that the Constitutional Head of the Indian Republic has received a raw deal abroad. The entire episode exposed the protocol goof-up. The UPA government should take moral responsibility for this unprecedented embarrassment caused to our President.
