May 23, 2008: Breaking News! Putting all rumors and speculations into rest, the Noida police finally arrested Arushi Talwar's father Dr. Rajesh Talwar. Arushi's mother Nupur Talwar and Dr. Rajesh's friend and assistant Dr. Anita Durrani is also under scanner. The police confirmed that they have been arrested on charges of murder of Arushi and Hemraj. The Noida SSP had yesterday hinted at the possible angle of honour killing.
The Noida Police had earlier visited Haridwar today, where Arushi's last rites were performed. The police immediately swung into action after returning from Haridwar. According to the police, Nupur was not at home when the murder took place. Arushi's head was first banged to the wall. Later, her vocal cord and jugular cord were slit. The police said that both murders were committed by Dr. Rajesh Talwar, who had extra-marital affairs with Anita Durrani. Arushi and Hemraj knew about their relationship.
The police also said that Rajesh Talwar has confessed to the crime and Nupur could be arrested for abetting the crime. As per them earlier the servant was the killer and later when he was also found dead (and that too not by them), they were forced to solve the case 'by Hook or by Crook' because of media pressure. this is a plight of our security agency....shame on them...

I failed to understand where was Arushi's mother? Dr. Rajesh... such person not even deserve the nobel title of Doctor (so called another face of God). Presumably, the Orkut profile would be that of Mr. Talwar, playing with the sentiments of his own daughter, as released in media. this disgruntle father should be stone to death in public view, unfortunately, our laws does not allow to do so.

It is smelling rat. One cannot kill his daughter merely on the basis of his extra marital affair. Then he had to kill his wife first. It may be an honor killing, since he had seen both Hemraj and his daughter in an embarassing situation

It is foolishness to believe that the case is solved. Anyone who is half witted enough lawyer will bail them out in no time. Cicumstantial evidence can be shred to pieces without any difficulty. I think there is a bigger truth that is not revealed -there is no confession. Pre meditated cold blooded murder - there is no evidence to prove that- anger and rage are emotions and an act committed in rage or anger are not pre-meditated. Enough to save the guy from noose. Though I am not a criminal lawyer with my criminal jurisprudence and criminal procedure code knowledge can bail the doctor out in this fragile police case. I am not saying that he is not the accused .. I am simply saying the case is not tight enough to get him a noose.

I think Noida police is making again a mistake.In kind of society we all live, with EKTA kapoors Serial as staple diet, No parent should be killing their offsprings for extra-marital affair.There is more to it.We should not forget the parties , which were affected by the so called affair and they were also doctors.As far as confession and talking to lawyer is concerned , it could have been prompted by police. Police should come out with the confession of the killer on the T.V.and make it public.
If the finding of the case is that Arushi's father did this act of killing his own daughter, than only God can save this planet. Actually not even God...I remember, we as kids were told that one's parents come before god or anyone else.

I still can't digest that a father can kill his daughter for any reason even if she was an adopted child (I don't know whether it's a fact). A kid living in cultured society and going to best of the school can have any illicit relationship with the servent. If she was having an affair (which I'm not in agreement at all) why her parents didnot remove the servent when it came to their knowledge. Is locking the girl inside the room in the night can help, if yes then what about the day time. As both the parents were working they would be coming back in evening, the kid would be back from the school in the afternoon only and would be alone with the servent. There must be some other side of the story as the way it is being told by the Police / Media does not look true at all.
On top of that the case looks very weak in the absence of any eyewitness and the weapon used. The Police has a lot of work to do if they want this "DARINDA" to be punished.

this case is taking my happiness out of me....i am feeling like adorning police role and investigate Talwar myself. What the hell Mrs. Talwar was doing while all this was happening? And a very BASIC quetion....if they knew abt Arushi's intimacy, why was the servant not removed long back? AND why the shit is Police stressing more on the deceased' affair rather than Dr.Talwar's affair, just because the former can't defend themselves? If police is claiming Dr.Talwar's confession, why can't it be made public on TV, considering the high profile of the case. Why are all the ministers who were very eager for transfer of certain police officials are now all shut up? This case requires CBI investigation. It is yet not finished....simply because we are not amused with the theory.

What a heinous act. Till now i thought that road side criminals and goons will do this kind of activities. Planning of this kind of murder takes time...months!! I think the motive behind it is larger than this extra-marital affairs crap thing which has pin-pointed by police again & again!! I really dont think his father fits the villain in this. Noida police has a history of bad investigations in past. I think they should open their in all directions then just magnifying small-crap issues. They need to go beyond what they see in front of their lazy eyes and bring the real culprit to justice. Contrary to what is said in here, the murder weapon has not yet been recovered by the police, nor the clothes of the murderer. There are many contradictions in the police theory. A big question is why police did not press the sniffing dogs into service in the first place. At this stage the arrest of Arushi's parents appears to be just an eye-wash.
There is something fishy going on.. if Dr. Talwar knew about arushi's affair with hemraj.. he would have chucked out hemraj from home and would have changed her to someother place.. because even i had faced the same problem when i was in college but it was not the servant but a neigbour what my parents did was they just took TC and took me to a remote place and now out happily married to an other person.. so i m sure Dr. Talwar have not killed her daughter.. someone else is playing behind this..

Whether the police has really cracked the case or not is still to be proven. They have not yet been able to answer the obvious loop holes but have been patting their backs claiming success.
But the most shocking and unprofessional ACT has been on the part of IG of police who did not show any maurity by casting aspersions on the character of late Arushi. I could not help but laugh when he called her name as "Shruthi" and had to be reminded by the press of the correct name. How could he go on air and point a finger on a deceased, which is most probably based on what he would have heard from her father.There is no evidence gathered from any corner to substantiate what he said. Was it more of police trying to prove themselves to be the ultimate or was it yet another proof that we lack matured and leadership proven senior officers. The IG needs to reminded on civic sense and he should be reprimanded for jumping the gun. What i am writing is not because of emotions but I am an ex airforce officer and have dealt with lot of such situations. We in the armed forces know that no matter who the deceased is, there is something called as RESPECT for the departed soul.

The way the Media & the people in general have been indulging maligning the reputation of the Talwars, the Durranis, the UP Police, the departed souls of Arushi & Hemraj, has left us wondering if we humans in general have lost all sense of propriety and dignified conduct in the face of a horriffic tragedy such as the NOIDA double murders.

I don't know why people are thinking there is anymore mystery left to the case. The day the news came out of the murder of Hemraj and people were wondering about the reasons - i had a gut feeling that the murderer had to be from the family and no one else.
It really stupid for the Talwars to have kept a male servant in their household when they had a teenage daughter in their house. Its a sad truth that it very common for the houseowners and servants to sleep around (you may deny but it's the reality - leave ur teenage son and maid servant alone - they will sleep around and same with daughters and male servants). I am not saying everyone is like this but it is becoming more and more common (or maybe coming out in the open).
So my hunch was that Hemraj was getting cosy with Arushi and Mr.Talwar caught them in the act and killed them. Its a clear case of Honour killing. This is the strongest theory. What would you do if you find your servant and daugher naked in bed??? It would generate intense hatred and you would look for the nearest thing to hit the servant with.
Second theory is about Mr.Talwars alleged relationship with Dr.Durrani - which Arushi came to know about. It doesn't carry much weight. Even if Arushi had confronted Mr.Talwar with the facts, he wouldn't Murder her for that.
So i my opinion he killed her for sleeping with the Servant. Though Mrs.Talwar said that he was a father figure, they were really stupid to keep a male in their house. If they had a female servant then Arushi wouldn't have met this fate. (But you never know Dr.Talwar would have tried to get cosy with the Maid...lol)
So folks to be on the safer side keep servants in your house by taking into account your children's age and sex and keep servants of the suitable sex.
It would however be interesting to know the real reasons behind the killing - which i'm sure are not very different from what i've mentioned here.

It is really surprising to read all many post who seem to be ahead of local police in believing and convincing that either parent can kill their daughter or support the killer of a only child. I can never take the motive of murder to silence the onstruction in the 'alleged' affair. God forbid, even if you agree that father was having affair, why would he need to kill the daughter? If killing of anyone would have helped the alleged involved in affair, it would have been the mother of culprit. In todays situation, when murder turning to suicide is easily possible across the world, why would a person make it so gory????? Any reasons.....
Further more, if the local authorities were so desperate to crack the case, they could have used Mr. Durrani as the "false bait" with easily convincing mass that it was done to settle score with Dr. Talwar to settle with infidelity.
I am more than shocked to see so many comments on the site with people accepting the theory that father is the culprit. It is easy said than done ..... killing a person with knife is not easy as writing a blog or post .... NO PARENT CAN EVER DO SO ......
I wish the Almighty gives the family the courage to stand and move ahead .....
Although deep in my mind I knew some thing like this was lurking behind but being the mother of an only child I smply could,nt bring myself to believe such a thing is possible.The mother must be mortally afraid of her husband to publicly defend her husband even after such a diabolical act.Be my daughter in your next life Arushi and I promise I will give you all the protection and love that a mother ought to give her offspring.
It hurt me very much to hear all this .Justice must be done and culprit should be brought to same fate hwoever is he.Indians plz do the needful.

It is unbelievable for parents who had a daughter after 5 years would do such a thing. I hope the case wil be solved justly and the real criminal caught. I hope and pray the lord will help to solve this sad loss of a beautiful life.

My understanding says. Rajesh talwar and nupur talwar both are involved in this double murder . In this murder one murder was decided (if it could be of Aarushi or Hemraj) but second murder done due to that has seen first murder. Police must check which murder happen first.If first murder was of Aarushi mean Hemraj seen this murder live so he also murdered and if hemraj is murdered mean aarushi had seen this murder and she also murdered. After lossing a daughter talwar family is not having any feeling even they are not crazy to know killer. Even they are not supporting to Police. And cause of this murder may be that Sexual relationship with others. As Aarushi asked what is Wife swapping . she asked this question in her school. so may be she is knowing waht is doing talwar family. And talwar family was involved in this relationsship so they had no emmotions for their daughter. May be hemraj got some proof or aarushi got some proof and they were seeing these on Aarushi`s PC. these proof could be some photogrphs taken by Mobile etc. when talwar family ssen that hemraj and aarushi are involved to getting proof they beocme angry and they killed them. People here are two fast to comment , normally any parents, would have got hemraj leave (far off) & got there daughter understand her mistake (councelling) , all people who have commented should re-think what exactly would they do under such situation, lot of married people in india today ,may it be him or her have affair, with due knowledge not to disturb their married life or society status, put ur hands on your heart & think would you kill your daughter in such circumtances, I know i wan't ever, I think its all hush hush by noida police to save face & press. I am writing from the UK & have followed this sad tragic case.
Its rather shameful to suggest the young girl Arushi was possibly having an affair with hemant the home helper, he was 45 years old & old enough to be her father.
She was a young intelligent girl & would not have done anything like that.It was probably a respectful mutual & pure friendship between them.
This theory is totally disespectful & disgusting for her memory.
Why would a pretty 14yr old not find boys her own age attractive in favour of a 45 yrs old ??
We all have sisters & have no right to gossip about this innocent young child & speculate on Arushi's character in this way.
Something else happened that night, sadly Arushi & Hemant took the sinister sequence of events with them to the grave.
