Kalpana Das in ICU, Orissa Govt. to bear her medical expenses

Kalpana Das, the first person from Orissa to scale the Mt. Everest, is currently undergoing treatment in Kathmandu. She is in the ICU now, but her condition is said to be stable. Kalpana fell ill because of exhaustion and dehydration while returning to base camp after successfully climbing the 8,848m peak.

Meanwhile, the Orissa government has announced that it would bear Kalpana's entire medical expenses. Kalpana, a lawyer by profession brought glory to Orisa by becoming the the first person from the state to scale Mt. Everest.
