Somnath cracks whip, 32 MPs referred to Privileges Committee

Lok Sabha Speaker Somnath Chatterjee finally cracked whip on the "unruly" MPs who continue to disrupt the house proceedings. After his suggestion of introducing a "no-work, no-pay" plan for MPs was rejected by the political parties, Speaker Somnath Chatterjee referred the names of 32 MPs to the privileges committee of the Parliament for disorderly conduct in the House on April 24, 2008. On that day, NDA MPs had formed a human chain outside the Parliament and disrupted both the houses.

Prominent MPs to be figured in that list are Shahnawaz Hussain, P S Gadhavi, M A Kharabela Swain, Kishan Singh Sangwan and Kiran Maheswari (BJP), Chandrakant Khaire and Kalpana Ramesh Narhire (Shiv Sena), Rattan Singh Ajnala and Sukhdeo Singh Libra (SAD), Tathagatha Satpathy (BJD) and Brajesh Pathak (BSP).

Other BJP MPs who were referred to the privileges committee of the Parliamant are Mahavir Bhagora, Ashok Pradhan, Nand Kumar Sai, Shrichand Kriplani, Vijayendra Pal Singh, Ganesh Singh, Faggan Singh Kulaste, Bhanwar Singh Dangawas, Virendra Kumar, Ram Singh Kaswan, Subhash Maharia, Sushila Laxman Bangaru, Dharmendra Pradhan, Ramswaroop Koli, Sukdeo Paswan, Ramakrishna Kusmaria, Karuna Shukla and Nandkumar Singh Chauhan. Sharanjit Singh Dhillon, Paramjit Kaur Gulshan (SAD) and P P Koya (JD-U) were also referred.
