BJP announces candidates for Six Lok Sabha Seats

As the UPA and Left are heading for a formal split over the Indo-US nuclear deal, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) started its campaign in style by announcing candidates for six Lok Sabha constituencies including that of their Prime Ministerial candidate L K Advani. According to BJP's Central Elections Committee, the party would announce all its candidates by the end of August.

L K Advani will be contesting from his traditional seat Gandhinagar in Gujarat. Navjot Singh Sidhu will fight from Amritsar, while Vinod Khanna will be contesting from Gurudaspur. The other three names announced by the party are Sripad Rao Naik (Panjim, Goa), Anurag Thakur (Hamirpur, Himachal Pradesh) and Lt. General T P S Rawat (Pauri, Uttarakhand).
