Breaking News! Pakistani Bowler Mohd. Asif arrested in Dubai for 'carrying' drugs

Breaking News! Pakistani speedster Mohammad Asif has been arrested by the Dubai Police at the Dubai International Airport for allegedly carrying contraband drugs. Unconfirmed reports say that Asif was held with 1 gm of Opium.

Asif was returning to Pakistan from Mumbai via Dubai after playing in the IPL. He played for the Delhi DareDevils. Asif was already involved in a dope scandal and faced a ban in 2006. However, later he was absolved of the charges, but the PCB was accused of a cover-up at that time.

Asif was arrested on Sunday night and he has been in custody for two days. Asif will be produced in a Dubai Court today. The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) will be holding a press conference at 5.30 PM. According to latest reports, Asif has confessed to the crime before the court. But the PCB officials denied it and maintain that Asif did not use drugs deliberately. PCB official Nadeem Akram is in Dubai to assist Asif in resolving the issue.

Meanwhile, the Dubai police have conducted a blood test on Asif. Things will be clear once the blood test report comes out. If found guilty, Asif could face a jail term in Dubai or may be deported to Pakistan. In either circumstances, his cricket career will come to an end.
