Gorkhaland Agitation: GJM begins Indefinite Hunger Strike

The Gorkha Janamukti Morcha began an indefinite hunger strike from Monday evening to press its demand for a separate Gorkhaland state. The organization asked the people living in the Darjeeling hills to keep food stock ready for at least 45 days.

The West Bengal government has already rejected the demand of a separate Gorkhaland state. There have been widespread violence between pro and anti-Gorkhaland supporters in Darjeeling and Siliguri last week, which forced the state government to call in Army and CRPF.
