SC permits Sahara to rebuild fencing at Sahara Saher

The Supreme Court allowed Sahara Grup to rebuild the demolished boundary walls of Sahara Saher in Lucknow. Both Sahara India Commercial Corporation (SICC) and the Lucknow Development Authority (LDA) had filed contempt charges against each other. However, the court disposed both petitions, while ordering the status quo. The SC has also appointed a supervisor who will look after the fencing work. The apex court pulled up the LDA officials for carrying out the demolition in an improper and deliberate manner.

Meanwhile, UP CM Mayawati has sacked LDA Vice Chairman Harminder Singh for allegedly mismanaging the whole affair. Mukesh Mesram has been appointed as the new Vice Chairman of LDA. Principal Secretary (Housing) Abbas has also been removed from duty with immediate effect.
