Tamil Nadu Politics: DMK snaps ties with ally PMK

Breaking News! In an interesting development in Tamil Nadu's political scene, the ruling DMK snapped ties with its one of the most trusted allies PMK. The decision was taken at a high level meeting of the party in Chennai, after the PMK openly criticized DMK's policies and leadership. It has been speculated that PMK is inching closer to DMK supremo M Karunanidhi's bete noire J Jayalalitha of AIADMK.

According to sources, the DMK may seek PMK's ouster from the UPA cabinet after their formal split in Tamil Nadu. Both parties are part of the UPA. If the Prime Minister concedes to DMK's demand, Health Minister A Ramadoss may get the boot, as he belongs to the PMK.
