UPA Ministers on Austerity Drive

Responding positively to the calls made by the Prime Minister Manmohan Singh and Congress President Sonia Gandhi, UPA ministers have resorted to austerity drive. Finance Minister P Chidambaram cancelled his Standford University trip. The PMO has cancelled Panchayati Raj Minister Mani Shankar Aiyar's foreign trip. Petroleum Minister Murli Deora too cancelled his Japan trip.

Some other ministers also cancelled their foreign trip. Tourism Minister Ambika Soni cancelled her USA trip. Defence Minister A K Antony too cancelled his foreign trip. Union Shipping Minister T.R. Baalu also opted out of his foreign trip. It's really good that UPA minister have tried to lead by example. However, it would be interesting to see how long they can stick to this austerity drive.
