Amarnath Protester's Suicide triggers fresh violence in Jammu

Curfew has been imposed in several parts of Jammu, after fresh violent incidents reported aftermath the suicide by a man over the Amarnath land row. The areas, which are tense, include Jammu City, R S Pura, Bishanh, Bari Brahamana, Vijaypur and Miran Sahib. Prohibitory orders has been imposed in Kathua, Samba and Udhampur.

People turned violent, after Kuldeep Kumar, who was on a hunger strike to protest the revocation of Amarnath land transfer, allegedly committed suicide by consuming poison. The angry protesters damaged vehicles, ransacked public properties and burnt effigies of the Governor, Chief Minister and PDP leaders. They also demanded immediate resignation of governor N N Vohra. Additional CRPF forces have been deployed in Jammu to restore law and order.
