Anil Ambani's Aircraft is in Customs Net
Continuing with its crackdown on private aircraft owners in order to track evasion of customs duty, the Customs department has issued a notice to Anil Dhirubhai Ambani Group (ADAG) for payment of over Rs. 37 crore as duty on the import of a Bombardier BD-700 Global Express aircraft. The cost of the aircraft is estimated at Rs. 150 crore.This is not the first instance the Customs department has caught any imported aircraft for the evasion of customs duty. It has already seized at least 10 aircrafts from Mukesh Ambani's Reliance Group, GMR, Oberoi and Indiabulls. The seized aircrafts have been released on bank guarantees and bonds. According to sources, Tatas, DLF and Raymonds are also on Customs department's hit list.
