Barack Obama promises withdrawal of US Troops from Iraq

US Presidential nominee Democrat Senator Barack Obama has promised to withdraw US troops from Iraq within 16 months and redeploy them to Afghanistan, if he comes to power. In a significant statement, Senator Obama described Iraq as a distraction from America's real security concerns.

However, Republican John McCain does not support Obama's views and considers any troop withdrawal as a surrender of America's military policy.
