Centre reshuffles Governors of States, Prabha Rau appointed Himachal Governor

With general elections may be a possibility in the wake of withdrawal of support from Left parties, the UPA government reshuffled the governors in some key states. In order to end dissidence in Maharashtra, the Congress appointed State Congress President Prabha Rau as the governor of Himachal Pradesh. Once she is out of the state, CM Vilasrao Deshmukh will find it easier to govern.

SS Sidhu has been transferred from Manipur to Goa as the governor, while former BSF DG Gurbachan Jagat has been appointed as the governor of Manipur. SC Jamir, who was the governor of Goa, has been transferred to Maharashtra.
