J&K Government falls, Ghulam Nabi Azad resigns
The Congress government in Jammu & Kashmir collapsed, as CM Ghulam Nabi Azad withdrew the trust motion moved in the assembly and decided to step down. The J&K governor NN Vohra had asked Azad to prove his majority in the wake of PDP's withdrawal of support to the government over the forest land transfer to Amarnath Shrine Board. Although the Azad government revoked the land transfer order, it was too late.Mr. Ghulam Nabi Azad blamed PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti for the fall of the government and instability in the state. He said that he decided to step down without seeking trust vote in order to prevent horse trading. Mr. Azad also criticized the governor for asking him to prove majority on the floor of the house.
