Nepal rejects Maoist Candidate, elects Ram Baran Yadav as First President
Contrary to the expectations, Nepal's lawmakers rejected the Maoist-backed candidate Ramraja Prasad Singh and elected Ram Baran Yadav from Nepali Congress party, as the first President of Nepal. Mr. Ram Baran Yadav won 308 out of 590 votes. His opponent could manage only 282 votes. Mr. Ram Baran Yadav is a a Physician by profession.
