PM meets President, decides to seek Trust Vote in the Parliament
Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh met President Dr. Pratibha Patil at the Rashtrapati Bhavan and held talks with her for 30 minutes. They discussed the current political situation in the country. The PM assured the President that he would convene a special session of the Parliament and seek a trust vote for his government at the earliest. The date when the Parliament should be convened will be decided by tomorrow evening when the UPA constituents hold a crucial meeting. The Congress-led UPA is confident of getting support from smaller parties and win the trust vote.
The Congress on Thursday slammed the Left and BJP for "misleading" the nation on IAEA Draft Agreement, saying the government just presented the draft before the IAEA, which is a normal procedure. The government again made it clear that it would withdraw the draft and nuclear deal if it loses the trust vote in the Parliament.
