Samajwadi Party expels six MPs, files defamation case against Advani and 3 BJP MPs

The Trust Vote sought by PM Dr. Manmohan Singh not only shocked the entire nation, it also took a heavy toll on the MPs. While the opposition parties expelled 24 MPs in total, the Samajwadi Party went on to expel six MPs who defied party whip and switched sides with Mayawati's BSP. The expelled MPs included Afzal Ansari, Ateeq Ahmad, S.P. Singh Baghel, Munawwar Hasan, Rajnarayan Budholiya and Jai Prakash Rawat.

The Samajwadi Party also filed a defamation case against BJP leader LK Advani and the three BJP MPs who took SP Leader Amar Singh's name in the cash-for-vote scam. Former Corporator Kishori Lal Yadav filed the suit in a court in Allahabad.
