UPA's Midnight Stroke: India submits Safeguard Agreement Draft for IAEA Approval

Breaking News! At the stroke of midnight today, the UPA government shocked everyone by submitting the Indo-US nuclear pact (safeguard agreement) draft for IAEA approval. Earlier, the government said that it would go to IAEA ((International Atomic Energy Agency) only after winning the trust vote in the Parliament.

According to IAEA, the draft has been circulated IAEA board members at India's request. The IAEA Chairman would set a date to consider the draft. The meeting is expected to take place in July-end or later. The IAEA has 35 member countries.

While the government terms the new development as routine, the BJP has questioned the government's moral rights to go to IAEA when the government seems to be in a minority. The Left parties have also reacted to sharply to the government's decision.
