Amarnath Land Row: VHP launches nationwide Agitation

The Amarnath land transfer issue has become national after the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) launched a nationwide protest called "Chakka Jam" this morning. The "Chakka Jam" will be in force from 9 AM to 11 AM. However, Ambulances and school buses will be spared. Normal life has come to a complete halt in various parts of the country. Rail and road traffic have been badly hit due to the agitation.

The VHP workers formed a human chain near Akshardham Temple in Delhi. The VHP has received full support from BJP and Bajarang Dal in spearheading the agitation. The BJP workers have stopped Shattabdi Express near Agra. Its "Chakka Jam" call has been effective in Delhi, Lucknow, Punjab, Haryana, Mumbai, Bhopal, Jaipur, Bhubaneswar, Agra, Guwahati, Jaipur, Ahmedabad and many other parts of the country. Major national highways have been blocked by the agitators. No violent incidents have been reported so far.
