Congress MPs from Jammu demand Governor N N Vohra's removal

Stung by sudden "Hindu Uprising" in Jammu over the Amarnath land transfer row, the Congress MPs from Jammu met Prime Minister Dr. Manmohan Singh and demanded immediate removal of J&K Governor N N Vohra. They also urged the PM to reconstitute the Amarnath Shrine Board by including Hindu members.

The MPs who met the PM included Rajya Sabha MP Dr. Karan Singh and Lok Sabha MPs Lal Singh and Madan Sharma. According to sources, the Congress MPs suggested the name of Gen. JJ Singh as the new governor of Jammu and Kashmir.
