Georgia declares "State of War" against Russia

The conflict between Georgia and Russia aggravated further, with Georgia's Parliament has unanimously approved a decree saying the country is in a "state of war" with Russia. Hostilities between both countries reached a new peak over the breakaway region of South Ossetia. The decree will remain in place for 15 days.

Russian navy, air force and ground force have launched massive offensive inside Georgian territory. Georgia claimed that Russian air raid had devastated the Black Sea port of Poti. According to unconfirmed sources, hundreds of people have been killed so far in Russian bombing. Russia said that over 1,500 people have been killed so far in the offensive launched by Georgia in Tskhinvali, the South Ossetian cpital.

Russia confirmed the death of its 12 soldiers in Georgian retaliation. While Georgia and South Ossetia claim that Tskhinvali is under their control, Russia said that it has "liberated" the city from Georgia. The world leaders have expressed concern over the escalation of conflict and urged Russia to stop bombing with immediate effect. The United Nations will meet to discuss this issue.
