Battle for Oscar - Taare Zameen Par vs Tingya

While Aamir Khan's "Taare Zameen Par" received India's official nomination for the Oscars, another Indian film, which is all set to give it a tough competition is "Tingya". "Tingya' is a Marathi film, directed by Mangesh Hadawale. The film is a story of the relationship between a teenager boy and his bull. The entire film is somewhat related to the issue of farmer suicides in Maharashtra.

Although "Tingya" failed to receive an official nomination for the Oscars, the director and producer of the film have decided to send it as an independent entry to the 81st Annual Academy Awards. Both "Taare Zameen Par" and "Tingya" are about child psychology and intense human emotion.

If we compare the direction, story line, theme and passion, there is hardly any difference between both films. They definitely have a realistic chance at the Oscars. A history will be made if both TZP and Tingya make it to the final nomination list in the foreign film category. Let's keep our fingers crossed.
