Jaya Bachchan says "SORRY" to Maharashtrians
Jaya Bachchan has expressed shock and surprise that her innocent remark has snowballed into a major controversy and offered unconditional apology to the people of Maharashtra. "I am very sorry if I have hurt the sentiments of Marathi speaking people in Mumbai and Maharashtra. My remark about choosing to speak in Hindi at the music launch of a Hindi film was said innocently", said Jaya.Jaya Bachchan has also made an emotional statement that Mumbai has given her and her family everything and they would never do anything to malign the city till death. During the launch of the music album of Abhishek-starred "Drona", Jaya Bachchan had pulled up Director Goldie Behl and Actor Abhishek Bachchan for speaking in English and jokingly said "Hum toh UP walle hain, hume Hindi mein hi bolna chahiye".
That unintentional remark was taken up MNS chief Raj Thackeray and he went to the extent of calling for a ban on the movies of Amitabh Bachchan and his family members. The Mumbai Police immediately put a ban on Raj Thackery's speeches and press conferences till October 7. The MNS workers went on a rampage yesterday and tore up Amitabh's posters and hoardings.
