Scientists hail "Big Bang" Experiment, hope for breakthrough on October 21
Scientists across the world, hailed the successful start of the "Big Bang" experiment in Geneva on Wednesday and expressed confidence that a major breakthrough would be achieved on the D-Day on October 21. the "Big Bang" experiment is aiming to recreate the conditions of old "Big Bang" explosion that created the universe. The experiment was held by the CERN Laboratory on the Swiss-French border.The large Hardon Collider machine was successfully activated yesterday. After the successful collision of beam particles, the real physics work has begun and it will continue till October 21. CERN will imitate the "Big Bang" on October 21. India's Science and Technology minister Kapil Sibal, Scientists Dr. Anil Kakodkar and Dr. R Chidambaram are among the state heads and dignitaries, who will be present at CERN on the D-Day.
CERN, is a large European institution with over 10,000 scientists, engineers and technicians. The six CERN observer countries include USA, India, Israel, Japan, Russia and Turkey. India has contributed $25 million to the project.
